Uganda — Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari

A Private Rainforest Encounter in Bwindi

An exclusive eco-retreat experience in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.

3, 4 & 6 Day Safaris Gorilla Permit Included Private & Fully Tailor-Made
The Mountain Gorilla Experience

An Encounter Unlike Any Other on Earth

Fewer than 1,100 mountain gorillas survive on earth. Nearly half of them live within the ancient, cathedral-dense forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda — a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the canopy has remained unbroken for over 25,000 years. To enter this forest and to spend one hour in the presence of a gorilla family in their natural state is an experience that exists at the outer edge of what is possible as a traveler.

Uganda gorilla trekking permits are strictly limited to eight visitors per habituated gorilla family per day — a number set by conservation scientists and the Uganda Wildlife Authority to protect the gorillas from stress and disease. The scarcity of access makes this not merely an experience but a privilege, one that directly funds the protection of the families you encounter and the communities that coexist with them.

Our luxury Uganda safari begins with this encounter at its heart. From there, we build an itinerary that complements the trekking with exceptional eco-lodge accommodation, optional game drives through Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the restorative beauty of Lake Bunyonyi — one of Africa's deepest and most serene lakes. This is a mountain gorilla tour in Uganda designed not as adventure tourism, but as transformative, conservation-led luxury travel.

“To look into the eyes of a mountain gorilla is to recognize something ancient in yourself — a connection to life that no other encounter in the wild fully prepares you for.”

More Than a Safari

Our Commitment to Gorilla Conservation

Every gorilla trekking permit we facilitate generates direct, audited conservation funding. A portion of every permit fee flows to the Uganda Wildlife Authority's gorilla protection programme, anti-poaching patrols, and the community revenue-sharing scheme that ensures Bwindi's border villages have a tangible, economic stake in the gorillas' survival.

We work exclusively with lodges that employ local guides, invest in community education, and operate under independent sustainability certifications. When you trek with us, you are not a visitor to someone else's conservation story — you are part of it.

Permit Fee Funding

Uganda gorilla trekking permits are priced to fund wildlife protection directly. Every permit issued contributes to UWA's anti-poaching patrols, veterinary care for habituated families, and long-term habitat preservation.

Community Benefit Sharing

Bwindi's border communities receive a defined percentage of all park revenues. This direct economic benefit is the single most powerful incentive for local support of gorilla conservation and a bulwark against poaching.

Anti-Poaching Support

Our partner lodges contribute directly to ranger salaries, patrol equipment, and community ranger programmes that extend protection into the forest buffer zones surrounding the national park.

Sustainable Tourism Model

Strict visitor limits, mandatory health protocols, and minimum approach distances are non-negotiable. Our guides enforce these standards rigorously — the gorillas' wellbeing is the first and final consideration.

Limited Daily Access

Only eight permits are issued per habituated gorilla family per day. We secure your permits well in advance and ensure your trek is unhurried, private, and conducted with the highest standard of wildlife ethics.

Population Recovery

Mountain gorilla numbers have increased from fewer than 600 in the 1980s to over 1,000 today — a rare conservation success story made possible by the model of responsible, permit-funded tourism you are now part of.
